The Point In Time (PIT) count is the national standard for determining the size of a homeless population within a community. The PIT is conducted one night in January and does not include people living in overcrowding situations or those seeking temporary shelter with friends or family (couch surfing). The data below is for the January 28, 2020 PIT Count. It was -35°F during the 2020 count.

The most recent Project Homeless Connect (PHC) in Fairbanks occurred on 01/29/2020. Approximately 80 service providers from around 36 agencies and businesses with the help from more than additional 60 volunteers provided needed services to 201 community members.

The HUD Worst Case Housing Needs Reports are biyearly congressional briefs. Worst-case needs are defined as renters with very low incomes no more than 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) who do not receive government housing assistance and who pay more than one-half of their income for rent, live in severely inadequate conditions, or both.
